AWARD-WINNING designer store Psyche has unveiled plans to boost on-line fashion sales by 500% and match turnover through its Middlesbrough outlet.
The Linthorpe Road department store currently turns over 10% of it business online but founder and owner Steve Cochrane said the new strategy aimed to increase that to 50% within the next 12 to 18 months. “The launch of our new site is fundamental to our strategy for growth,” he said.
The site, built by Stockton ecommerce specialists Visualsoft - the company behind the launch of the designerclothing.com portal last month - uses the latest version of its ecommerce engine, VS3.
Psyche, which has twice won the Fashion Retailer of the Year Award, is just the latest to rethink its sales strategy in light of research that suggests the internet will becoming the shopping channel of choice for consumers.
According to a survey by eDigitalResearch and IMRG, 93% of people plan to go online for Christmas gifts. Overall, internet sales have grown 18% year on year, according to the British Retail Consortium. Although online, mail-order and telephone sales only account for 4% of all retail sales, they have consistently outperformed the high street during one of the toughest trading periods. source, nebusiness.com
